No Fibula is not always No Problem

I had to pick Nick up from school due to ankle pain (he also has a line of pain from toes to ankle if he presses on his foot or walks on it).

He’s been without his insert/brace/lift for about a month now. He’s also been playing football and kick ball. I put the air cast so he can hopefully walk comfortably. So far it’s not helping. Not sure what else to do other than wait to hear from RIAO.

Nick said the pain is a 5.5 on a scale of 1-10. He said it is a new pain so it’s hard to rate. The school nurse was worried that he might be down playing the pain. She’s very kind to Nick but also mentioned feeling kind of helpless. I totally get that. I want to make this better for him and I don’t know how. In any case I am glad she takes him seriously and keeps in touch. A kind and capable school nurse is something to be very grateful for.

Last week at football Nicholas had 2 touchdowns! One he had to run in. That is a huge accomplishment for Nick. He’s been loving playing and riding his bike every chance he gets. Maybe I should have limited his activity while he doesn’t have the brace/insert/lift. I just hate doing that!!! He’s been so happy and free for so long leg wise.

I wish I could speed up the brace business but I don’t know how. It’s a long story. I just want my boy to be able to do what he wants and not be in pain. That’s all I ever want.
